Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 1990

Belgium was represented by Philippe Lafontaine, with the song '"Macédomienne", at the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Zagreb on 5 May. Lafontaine was chosen internally by broadcaster RTBF to be that year's Belgian representative.
==Song presentation==
On the unusually early date of 8 January, Lafontaine's self-penned song "Macédomienne" was presented as the Belgian entry by broadcaster André Vermeulen in a segment of RTBF's evening news programme. The song was dedicated to Lafontaine's Macedonian wife, and Lafontaine refused to allow the commercial release of the track, going so far as destroying the original master tape to prevent it being copied. "Macédomienne" remains one of very few Eurovision entries which was never released commercially even in its own country.
